In just a short time span, Uber and Lyft have made a huge impact in the industry of ridesharing. It has played a significant role in the transportation strategy of individuals who are travelling. In most cases, public transportation will not provide the same convenience that ridesharing can provide. Alternatives, such as car rental companies, are expensive and they also come with a complex process. Ridesharing companies provide a solution to the common issues that we encounter as a commuter or traveler.

Comparison of Uber and Lyft

Since its inception, I was one of the loyal customers who enjoyed the fast and efficient service of ridesharing companies. This article presents a side-by-side comparison of the two ridesharing giants that will help you identify the best choice for you.

Price

Perhaps one of the reasons why people prefer ridesharing companies is due to the fact that they are inexpensive. While both companies will provide us an opportunity to save money, there is a slight difference when it comes to their pricing. There are different factors that may affect the price of Uber or Lyft such as the traffic in the city, the type of car that you will hire, and the amount of tip that you will provide; it would be difficult to determine which provides a cheaper service. If you want to get the best deal, I would encourage you to check their apps. By comparing the cost of Uber and Lyft, you will be able to plan ahead and find the more cost-efficient service.

Availability

Lyft has been growing steadily in various part of the nation, but Uber is still more available in more cities. In most international destinations and mid-sized cities in the US, Uber is still the more preferred choice in terms of availability. Lyft may not have the right volume of manpower which means that you will have to wait much longer before the ride arrives at your location. With regards to the car types and models, Uber has a variety of cars available.

Customer Service

Most customers highlighted the amazing customer service of Lyft. They are known for their friendlier company culture. They normally provide you with a better experience. If the people of the company feel that their skills are being valued, they will be more engaged and satisfied with their work which will translate to a higher customer satisfaction. You will instantly see the difference in their service if you choose to hire a driver who works exclusively for Lyft. However, most drivers will work for both if both are offered in their city.

Options

With regards to options, both services will provide you with flexibility and options. Uber has unique options such as their ‘Car Seat’ that is currently offered in four major cities such as Orlando, DC, Philadelphia and New York. Both platforms now offer an in-app ‘tipping’ feature, so you don’t have to carry extra cash.

So which ridesharing company should you use? The best answer will depend upon your needs and situation. If you require an immediate service, Uber is often a good choice, but if you value a great customer service, Lyft might be the best solution.
